CAVEMASTER DEMO PARTY
a stout spear with a curved point
(For game purposes, we’re calling all hand-held thrusting spears a “lance”.)
This is a spear made of wood with a stone or bone or ivory tip. There is a slight curve to the point, so it can not be a thrown weapon. This leads to a more powerful strike because the force follows the curved path of a spear swung by two arms. The tip is usually not barbed, so the weapon can be withdrawn and immediately used again.
The two components typically have a diagonal (Scarph or Scarf) joint wrapped by moist sinew and antler glue or pine pitch. The sinew tightens as it dries, making the connection very secure.
